Trade movements between Brazil and the United States in 2022 amounted to US$ 88.7 billion.
According to Amcham's Brazil-US Trade Monitor, an entity that brings together about 4,000 companies, the increase of US$ 18.2 billion was 25.8% compared to the previous record year, which was 2021.
According to the Monitor, bilateral trade surpassed Brazilian international trade as a whole. Brazilian exports grew 19.3% to the rest of the world and 20.2% to the US.
Brazilian imports as a whole increased by 24.3%, while purchases from the United States increased by 30.3%. With that, the North American share of the Brazilian chain increased to 14.6%, marking its highest point since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to Abrão Neto, new CEO of Amcham Brasil, "the unprecedented results in all the main indicators of bilateral trade show the moment of high dynamism of economic relations between the two countries, as well as the increased relevance of the United States for Brazilian foreign trade”.
A period of modest stability in bilateral flows is forecast for 2023, with numbers somewhat close to the previous year's records. There are significant prospects for both nations, both in supply chains and in the green economy.
Abraão Neto also states that it will be essential to monitor the development of the global geopolitical and economic situation because it is still unstable and may change some of these expectations.
